Retailers say headphone sales leap over 30% in Jan–Sep
MOSCOW, Oct 11 (PRIME) – Russia’s headphone sales increased more than 30% on the year in January–September led by wireless devices by JBL and Apple, retailers told PRIME on Wednesday.
“Headphone sales in units on the Russian market increased by almost 30% on the year in January–September to more than 20 million units. About 40% of the sales were seen in July–September. This year demand focused on the accessories with Bluetooth connection where the core demand driver is fully wireless True Wireless Stereo earbuds that become more affordable and their choice becomes wider,” a representative of M.Video-Eldorado said.
JBL, Samsung, and Apple headphones have traditionally strong positions in M.Video-Eldorado’s stores, while Chinese brands Huawei and Realme show the most active growth.
Mobile operator MTS, which also runs a wide retail chain, said that wireless headphone sales increased by 16% to 29 billion rubles and by 69% to 12 million units in January–September. The average price decreased by 31% to 2,400 rubles.
In July–September, sales climbed by 41% on the year to 10.4 billion rubles and by 68% to 4.4 million units.
